TiO2

Titanium Dioxide is a naturally occurring mineral that has been a leading ingredient in sunscreens and foundations for over 100 years due to its high refractive index and ability to block UV light. As a key physical sunscreen ingredient, it’s known for providing broad-spectrum protection while adding opacity and brightness to makeup.

Historically, it became popular in the early 20th century when synthetic methods of producing TiO2 made it widely accessible, allowing its integration into cosmetic and sunscreen products.

Benefit of Coatings

  1. Enhanced Moisture Resistance: Oil coating prevents talc from absorbing moisture, which increases the stability and shelf-life of cosmetic products in humid environments.

  2. Improved Skin Compatibility: The oil layer creates a gentler, smoother texture on the skin, making talc more suitable for sensitive skin types.

  3. Better Spreadability: The coating allows talc to blend more easily with other ingredients, creating a smoother and more even application on the skin.

  4. Improved Adherence: Oil-coated particles adhere better to the skin, reducing the need for frequent touch-ups and improving the product’s longevity.
